Scholarship Essay Topic:
The topic for this year’s essay contest is: “The Intersection of Technology and Personal Injury: The Legal Implications of Social Media in Cases”. Social media platforms have become a central part of how people communicate and share information, but they also present unique challenges and opportunities in the legal realm, particularly in personal injury law. We invite students to explore how social media plays a role in evidence gathering, shaping public perception, and influencing the outcomes of personal injury cases. Additionally, participants should address the ethical and legal challenges posed by social media in modern legal practices.
Scholarship Award:
- Award Amount: $1,000
- Essay Length: A minimum of 750 words
- Essay Submission Format: Essays must be submitted in a PDF format, with the file name containing the student’s name (e.g., Firstname Lastname Essay). Submissions not following this format will not be considered.
Who Is Eligible?
To be eligible for this scholarship:
- Applicants must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on an unweighted 4.0 scale.
- Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited undergraduate, graduate program, or community college in the United States.
- High school seniors are eligible to apply if they have been accepted into an accredited college, community college, or university in the United States.
How to Apply:
Interested students must submit the following materials:
- Resume – including contact information, academic details, and cumulative GPA.
- Academic Transcript – showing GPA.
- Original Essay – responding to the provided topic.
- University or Community College Acceptance Letter from US institutions – for high school students.
- Statement of Originality – Include in your cover email an attestation that your essay and materials were generated solely by you, the applicant, with no use of Generative AI or input from other individuals.
Submission Deadline:
The deadline to submit all materials is July 15, 2025. Applications, along with all supporting documents, should be sent via email to . Awards are made annually by September 1.
Scholarship Rules:
Only one application per individual is allowed.
The scholarship award winner agrees to be featured on our Ward and Smith Personal Injury social media and will be responsible for any taxes associated with the award.
